Adelita's  class focuses on creating intricate awareness of the body, thereby increasing the dancer's strength, coordination, focus & spatial awareness. The first half of the class is devoted to a warm-up, where we begin by focusing on the breath and its connection to the body. The warm-up continues with special attention to our abdominal core and how our feet connect to the floor. Both play a crucial role in mastering transitions. Students will also learn proper body alignment according to their individual body type.

 

The unique choreography presented gently incorporates different cultural movements that have influenced Adelita’s life, including Latin, African & Indian. We practice connecting the body with sound and music as if the body were its own musical instrument, giving the dancer an opportunity to tap into their own expression of creativity.
